Interfaith Prayer Painting Project: Evolving Concepts

While the visuals of specific religious languages and symbols hold dear comfort for many, those very images may provoke dread, anger, and discord in others.

History.

Filtering through the silt of associative icons, I was left with two basic and essential shapes:
The circle represents completion in virtually all pre-historic and indigenous cultures. In a painting connected to Hospice, this circle most succinctly represents the human’s life journey.

The square, in it’s own sense of ‘perfection’, represents the four directions. We may refer to that concept in the contemporary idea of inclusiveness.

This is the foundation of my current investigations.
